Christmas, 2007

Christmas came early this year for Hans. On our way home from the 1/2 marathon, we stopped at Glendora Chevrolet and he drove  a new black Corvette off the showroom floor. I'll post a picture! Most of our family were here for Christmas dinner. We miss Eric, who is now living in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  Chris was with us for Christmas, as were Ron, Dana, and Marji and their families.  Will add some photos.

October 20, 07 5K Race

More pictures posted in the racing section. As they did last year, Hans and Lizzie raced in the Rotary 5K race. This year, Sydney joined them. Hans and Sydney placed 2d in their respective age groups...Lizzie had many girls her age running, so she will have to speed up next year. It's a fun run for Grampa and his granddaughters.

Sydney at 16

Sydney will be 16 tomorrow..where did those years go and when did we blink?  She didn't want a party, but wanted to do something special...Swim with the Dolphins was her special request.  Check out the pictures...under grandkids.

Hans running pictures for 2007

Hans has enjoyed running races again this year.  May 20th  he ran a race in San Bernardino...called the Mayor's Run on Route 66. He placed 1st in his age group and was presented his trophy by the Mayor himself.  Chris and I were his pit crew, and were delighted when we heard his name called for 1st place!  Fun day.   Another 1/2 marathon in Fontana on June 3. He placed 4th in his age group although he ran 10 minutes faster then last year, when he placed 3d. Pictures are posted in the racing section.

Easter at Marji's

It's been quite awhile since I posted any pictures, so this morning I decided I had better post Easter before it was Christmas again. We enjoyed Easter at Marji's, altho the kids are too old now for the fun Easter egg hunt. Chris was able to join the fun for the first time in a very long time. Just a few pictures..didn't take one of everybody. We will improve that at our  next get together.

Bev's 70th Surprise Birthday Party

My Oct 24th birthday was celebrated with a surprise party on Sunday, Oct 22. Hans had spent 4 months planning this party and I didn't have a clue. We walked into the San Dimas Canyon Clubhouse and over 80 of my friends and relatives yelled SURPRISE!  It was truly a day to remember. Walking into a room and realizing you not only know everyone in the room, but they are all friends, is an amazing feeling. I will post some pictures..the scrapbook I make will be another treasure. Ron and David made sure I have plently of pictures to enjoy. Will share a few on here..enjoy.

Hans and Liz running 5k Race

On a rainy, October 14th, Hans and Liz ran together in a 5K race sponsored by the Covina Rotary. They had a great time. David and I were the pit crew, and tried to keep warm in pouring rain..great for the runners, but not so good for the spectators. Posted the pictures in the racing section.

Miss Lizzie, the dog, joins our family

Over a month ago, two little girls stopped at our front door and asked if this was our dog, if not, did we want her? We said no, but they told me they would have to let her go..she then went into our back yard. We tried to find her owner, but nobody responded to the ads, etc. So..we have a dog! Take a look at her picture. This was taken for her "wanted poster". We named her Miss Lizzie and she is a joy. Her visit to the Vet made her eligible for the platinum dog award..all you pet owners can relate.

 

Hans in Fontana 1/2 Marathon June 4, 2006

Hans ran another 1/2 Marathon on Sat., June 4, 2006.  He ran it in a time of 2:01.  I had my usual seat at the finish line. This was the 51st Annual Fontana Days Run. 

Washington, D.C. April 18-22, 06

Hans had a wonderful time when he accompanied Marji and 19 of her 8th grade students on their annual student trip to Washington, D.C.  It was a quick trip and I stayed home and helped with Elizabeth and Sydney. I have posted several pictures.

Queen Mary 2

 Hans and I enjoyed watching the Queen Mary 2 sail into Long Beach and salute the first Queen Mary.

Grand Canyon Visit, January 2006

Our first visit to the Grand Canyon was fantastic! We drove to Williams, AZ and spent the night at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel. The next morning we boarded the train for a two hour ride to the Grand Canyon.  The tour included a buffet lunch before a 3 hour bus tour. The pictures I posted tell the story...the weather was perfect, very cold, but clear and the canyon was beautiful. We spent the night at the Yavapai Lodge. We walked out to Yavapai Point at sunset and I have a photo of the sun setting on the left, as the moon came up on the right...it was breathtaking! We walked part of the Rim Trail the next day before returning back to Williams on the afternoon train. We spent another evening enjoying our new friends and left for home on Sat...we will return.  

Christmas 2005

I have posted a few photos from our Christmas celebration with most of our family.  Everyone enjoyed the day and we had our usual typical So. California weather, so we ate outside..always fun on Christmas.

Relay for Life Cancer Walk, June 25, 05

Sydney's 8th grade Promotion

Our granddaughter, Sydney, is on her way to Covina High School..her 8th grade promotion was June 17. She was awarded Best Girl Athlete of the Year.

Bryan's Graduation from Temescal Canyon High School

Our grandson, Bryan Rindal, graduated from Temescal Canyon High School, Lake Elsinore, on June 16..a fun day for all of us.  Photos are posted.

Fontana Half Marathon June 4, 05

Hans ran a half marathon in Fontana, June 4, 05.  He finished 9th in his class..250 out of 500.

Visit with friends from Australia and Michigan

I've posted photos of our visit with James from Australia and Neil and Diane from Michigan. James spent 12 days with us and Neil and Diane 5 days..what a wonderful reunion visit for all of us. We all met each other on a Europe tour in 1999.

New kitty, Orphan Annie

We were not going to get another cat, but our Vet said this little girl came out of the rain on February 17..we took a look and took her home today, March 1.  Aunt Gerry suggested Orphan Annie..calling her Annie. She's joined the gallery of all the other wonderful cats we lived with.
