Visiting Taylor/Hager families
posted on Wednesday, Jul 31, 2013

July was a busy month. On the 4th, Kari Taylor arrived from Missouri, and that evening we picked up Kristina and Madison, her 10 yr old daughter at LAX. The next day they met their brother, Eric and his daughter, Shelby, at Disneyland and all came back here on Sat..all the kids came over for a cousin reunion. The  two weeks were busy with trips to San Diego Zoo, visit with Aunt Gerry, meeting new cousin, Alix, dinners, beach trips, etc.  And of course, In-n-out. Eric and Chris grew up with this family, so there were lots of phone calls with Eric and a visit with Chris. Their Mom was Hans sister, and introduced Hans and I..the rest is history.
Fun, busy two weeks for everyone.

Sydney and her friend, Jon Trzepkowski, planned a great summer adventure. Main goal was raising $3,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project. They made this goal, however the weather in Newfoundland was the worst in recent history. They weren't able to continue the kayak circumnavigation of Newfoundland. Their blog and pictures are well worth viewing..check out http://clockaroundtherock.wordpress.com/

Michelle's baby shower
posted on Wednesday, Mar 13, 2013

Marji hosted a baby shower for Michelle & Ron, March 10th.  It was a couples shower and we had a wonderful time.  Fun to watch the men try to figure out a candy bar smell, inside a disposable diaper! These shower games are different from long ago!! Lizzie arrived home late Sat.night just in time to help her Mom. Spring Break.  The Dr. Seuss theme was displayed in the refreshments, gifts and the baby's room. So cute. Everything is ready for the arrival of baby girl, Alix.

Lisa's Walnut school district sponsors a yearly 5K as a fund raiser and this year Dana ran with Lisa and Hans.   May 20th Hans ran the Mayor's 10 K in San Bernardino, and placed 1st in his class again.  Lisa had planned to run with him, but her gall bladder had other plans. She had surgery April 23 and wasn't able to join him.  However, she was improved and ran the 1/2 marathon with him June 2d. Hans was 1st in his class and Lisa placed in the middle of her age group. This was her first 1/2 marathon and she did great.  posted some cute pictures

Time for Updates
posted on Friday, Jun 15, 2012

It's been so long since I posted, I almost forgot how! Ignore the "it" post below.  I don't have any pictures to post, but Hans and I had a great time on April 23.  Ron found out how to get tickets and we were one of the lucky ones to be in the audience of Dancing with the Stars featuring MOTOWN stars.  The four hours we stood in line were well worth every minute. We didn't make it to the TV, but we were just to the right of the skybox where the dancers wait for their scores..great view of all the dances and everything that goes on behind the scenes. A definite E ticket.

Christmas Day, 2011
posted on Monday, Dec 26, 2011

We enjoyed another Christmas with the family..wish we could all be together, but phone calls with everyone helped with all the news. Cousin, Eric Taylor called, and we all had a nice visit with him. We had 2 turkeys and a ham, plus all the trimmings, so more than enough food and lots of leftovers. Everyone left with a doggie bag. Lizzie had to catch the redeye back to New Hampshire, and Sydney will be home for another week. Busy time for everyone.

"Cousins" Lunch, Dec 20
posted on Monday, Dec 26, 2011

We enjoyed a nice lunch with 3 of our grandkids, plus Bryan's girlfriend, Kelli-Ann on Dec 20th.  Sydney and Lizzie were home for Christmas vacation. It has been at least 3 years since all the kids were together. Erica had a previous engagement in San Diego, so we missed her. Was a wonderful, fun day for all of us. Especially Grandpa and Gramma. Before lunch, we exchanged our Xmas gifts with Bryan and Kelli-Ann.

Hans 71st Birthday
posted on Monday, Dec 26, 2011

We celebrated Hans birthday the 11th with dinner and a requested spice cake. All the Peterson kids were here, and Chris called from Wrightwood and Eric from Steamboat Springs. He told me our next big celebrations will be his 75th and my 80th!..that sounds scary.  How did we reach this advanced age?

Visit to Steamboat Springs, Sept 2011
posted on Sunday, Dec 04, 2011

We enjoyed another visit with Eric and Ingrid in Steamboat Springs, CO in September.  We went a little later this year and left just in time. We would have been driving over the pass at 12,000' in a rental car without chains. It snowed the day after we left.  After our visit last year, we know our way around Steamboat and again enjoyed a hike to Fishcreek Falls. Met some fun people while taking pictures..a fellow scrapbooker was taking the same pictures I was taking, and that started a conversation about our mutual hobby.

On Saturday, Sept 10,  we enjoyed watching the annual Rubber Ducky Race.  Over 2,700 rubber ducks floated down the Yampa River and were caught by a net and many volunteers about a mile downsteam. All proceeds are donated to the Yampa Medical Center...$10.00 a duck.

Sunday Ingrid and Eric, along with Ingrid's granddaughter, Kaedynce and her dog, Chubbs, took us to Steamboat Lake. Very rural area. We stopped for lunch in Clark. Small store, includes the PO and THAT is the town.  It caters to the ranchers that live in the area.

On our way home we stopped in Vail, CO. I have always wanted to ski there, but was content with lunch (at McDonald's!) Very expensive, exclusive area..but also beyond beautiful in the fall. Also made a stop in Golden and drove around the Coors Brewery. We stopped at the Railroad Museum, but didn't have time for a tour. That's something to look forward to on our next visit. Posted pictures.

What an exciting day Thursday, August 11, was for Bryan. He graduated from the Culinary Academy at Riverside City College. We attended, along with Uncle Chris, his Mom Darlene, Grandmother Cathy, Great Grampa Bill, and his girlfriend Kelli Ann.  A fabulous dinner was served before the graduation ceremony. The Jr. class cooked a gourmet meal for the Seniors and their guests. The food was amazing!  Bryan received two awards. I've posted some great pictures.

We had a wonderful, fun day on Sat, May 21.  The Amgen Tour of California started the 7th stage of the race in Claremont and finished with the tough ride up Mt. Baldy road.  We watched the start in Claremont, and then rushed over to Glendora to watch the sprint and the start of the climb up Mt. Baldy. We will be sure to be part of the crowd every year from now on!
